Please use these materials to prepare for your child's First Reconciliation.  Be sure to complete all segments including the worksheets which must be submitted to us at the First Reconciliation Retreat on February 22, 2025.   Please contact us with any questions or needs.

Our review is in six parts. Each chapter of the First Reconciliation text book is as follows:

Complete Chapter 1 and 2

  • Focus on vocabulary

  • Check for understanding

  • Emphasize choices

  • Define Reconciliation

  • Define Baptism and Sacrament

  • Review what Jesus’ name means

  • Know the words “Act of Contrition, Sacraments of Initiation, Sin, Eucharist” (found in the Glossary pages 76 & 77)

Complete Chapter 3 and 4

  • Focus on vocabulary

  • Check for understanding (Jesus saw/People saw)

  • Making good choices

  • Right or Wrong

  • Define Kinds of Sins

  • Mistakes or Accidents

  • Define Confess, Contrition, Forgiveness

  • Clarify who can forgive sins

  • Know the words “Free Will, Moral Choice, Mortal Sin, Venial Sin, Confess, Contrition, Forgiveness” (found in the Glossary pages 78 & 79)

Complete Chapter 5 and 6

  • Focus on vocabulary

  • Check for understanding

  • God Welcomes Us Back After The Sacrament of Reconciliation

  • Explain How To Make An Examination of Conscience

  • Define Absolution and Penance

  • Complete Worksheet “H” - Going To Confession

  • Read the Scripture of the Good Shepard

  • Sacrament of Reconciliation Strengthens Our Relationship With God

  • Know the words “Confession, Sacrament of Penance, Reconciliation” (found in the Glossary page 79)

Any of the worksheets A- P can be worked on with your student if you feel it will reinforce a concept. The summary sheets “D, N and P” from this set MUST BE TURNED IN AT THE RETREAT AS DEFINED IN THE FIRST BLOCK ABOVE.
